Homes for Heroes was established shortly following the tragic events of 9/11 as a way to give back and say “Thank You” to our nation’s heroes. When heroes work with Homes for Heroes affiliate real estate agents and lenders, they receive discounts and Hero Rewards® which are easy ways for EMS, Firefighters, Healthcare Workers, Law Enforcement, Military (Active, Reserves and Veterans), and Teachers to save significant money when buying, selling or refinancing a home.

Every time a hero uses Homes for Heroes, they help other heroes in need. When working with an affiliate real estate agent, part of their commissions are sent after closing to Homes for Heroes and is donated to the Homes for Heroes Foundation, a non-profit 501(c)(3) that provides assistance to heroes in need. The foundation is a large piece that separates Homes for Heroes from any other cost savings program for lending and real estate services nationwide.

This program is available everywhere in the United States, and because you are a hero and you may know a hero that would benefit from this program, I am proud to say that I am able to help heroes nationally as a licensed lender. Our community heroes, our firefighters, law enforcement, military members, teachers and healthcare workers, sacrifice so much to serve our community by putting others before themselves with very little recognition or thanks. That is why I am a Homes for Heroes affiliate, it is my way to give back and say Thank You. What is this program about?

Homes for Heroes provides real savings for the people who work every day to make our communities safer, cleaner and better places to live. Homes for Heroes is a network of real estate professionals and mortgage bankers prepared to give real savings to their communities’ Heroes when they buy or sell a home. This program is our way to say thank you.

How much will you save?

The total amount you save will depend on your final selling or buying price of your home in addition to reduced lender fees for any mortgage loan.

Are there a lot of extra applications, forms and paperwork?

None. Your name, a way to contact you, and what you do in your community ‐ that’s all we need to know.

What if I am already working with a Realtor?

If you have signed any legal agreements with a realtor, you cannot lawfully work with a Homes for Heroes realtor. However, if you have not committed to a realtor I work with a team of amazing realtor affiliates that I can refer you to.

Who qualifies as a hero?

Anyone can be a Hero! Our initial heroes have been firefighters, and public safety officers. However, there are many Heroes in our communities: health care professionals, military personnel, educators and educational support staff, youth workers, pastors and more. Tell us what you do for your community. When you are buying or selling a home, let us say thank you for all you do!

Do I have to use all of your affiliates (agents and lenders) to receive the savings?

In order to receive the benefits of the cost savings through the Homes for Heroes program, you will have to work with a realtor affiliate and/or lender affiliate that is registered with the program.

How did this program get started?

Formed in 2001, following the tragedy of September 11, 2001, and bolstered by a shared admiration for all the “heroes” employed as firefighter, emergency medical technicians and law enforcement officers, of group of Minnesota business owners created an innovative network called Homes for Heroes. This network was established to offer considerable savings to Heroes when they buy or sell a home. Since then, the program has expanded to serve even more workforce heroes: military personnel, educators and educational support staff, clerical professionals, health care professionals, and other every day heroes who provide quality services to their communities.

Are Homes for Heroes Realtors & Lenders full service?

Yes! As a lender I can offer a wide variety of different loan types and programs as well as offering you the reduced lender fees. The realtors provide you with professional support in every aspect of buying or selling a home. Combined we are able to offer more savings than anyone else.

Are Homes for Heroes affiliates qualified?

Absolutely! Homes for Heroes has strict Affiliate membership requirements to ensure you will be represented by the best of the best. Our Affiliates receive ongoing training to ensure they are current in how to provide you with the best possible service.

I have been in mortgage lending since 1998, starting first as a processor before becoming an originator. Having the operations background is a big advantage and has helped me become successful in all loan types. In 2013 I was approached to be a lender affiliate for Homes for Heroes and I jumped at the opportunity to be a part of this amazing program. 

My husband is “my why”, previously an active duty Air Force Firefighter and now a Department of Defense Firefighter, I quite often see the look on his face when he comes home and can tell that things may not have gone well. He helps people on their worst days, setting aside personal emotions to step up and aid a stranger.
